Description
Vultures are far from being pretty, matter of fact they are some of the ugliest birds created but they have a great purpose in life. There are two main kinds in our area in West Tennessee, the Black Vulture which is black or dark brown and the Turkey Vulture which normally has a red head and dark body. Black Vultures do not have a great sense of smell so they normally follow the Turkey Vulture to find food. They are very large birds with a wingspan of 4 1/2 to 5 feet. Thankfully God created them to help clean up the environment by eating dead animals before they rot and cause disease. They are very unique birds in their on way, I like finding them perched on a post as this one.
