Blue Suede Shoes is a song written by Carl Perkins in 1955, it was considered one of the first rockabilly records, incorporating elements of blues, country and pop music. Carl Perkins was born April 9, 1932 and passed away January 19, 1998. He was born in Tiptonville Tennessee and at the age of 14 he started writing songs. His family moved and settled in Jackson Tennessee in 1947. Carl Perkins became a very successful performer of music during his lifetime. He worked alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and many other great performers. In 1981 Carl Perkins founded the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Jackson Tennessee.
I took the photo of the blue footprints on the sidewalk a few years ago and added the "Mr Blue Suede Shoes Walkway" to the image. Since then the footprints have faded away some from the elements of the weather. The blue footprints were on the sidewalk near the Rockabilly Hall of Fame Museum downtown Jackson Tennessee at the old location on North Church St. The museum was been moved to the Carnegie Center for Arts and History Museum in 2019.
