This is a digitally painted version of "Keeping Watch"....the Male Cardinal is a very exquisite backyard bird. They are not born with their deep red color, they are born with the tan like color of the female and they get their red feathers as they grow. Male cardinals can be very aggressive to other male cardinals when defending his territory but they are very skittish to humans. Many people believe the sighting of a cardinal can be a sign of good luck!
