Description
Could it be Bambi by Linda Segerson....This white-tailed fawn and her mom come to visit every morning and late afternoon, the fawn loves my flower bed behind the house. I have taken their picture so much I think they have gotten a little used to me, they continue to eat and ever so often they will stop and watch me. I know it won't be too long until it will be deer hunting season and I they will not come around very often so as long as I can I will keep shooting, that is with my camera!
At birth, white-tailed fawns have a spotted reddish coat that is fairly silky. There may be several hundred spots on the coat. The spots enable the fawn to camouflage itself, with the colors blending well with the surrounding natural environment. They usually weigh between 4 to 8 pounds at birth. The whitetail fawn loses its spots by the end of October of the same year it was born, or within 3 to 4 months after birth.
The fawn is also weaned by the time it loses its spots. By November the average whitetail male fawn will weigh close to 80 to 85 pounds, and the female fawn will weigh 75 to 80 pounds. As the spots disappear, the fawn's coat also changes from its reddish color to a grayish winter coat. The buck fawn's face grows a bit darker in color but the belly remains white.

Oh what a soft but beautifully clear and detailed shot, Linda! I just love this! I hope this little beauty and her mom manage to stay safe and escape the hunters. L/F

Thank you Sandi, this little beauty is now starting to loose her spots. She has been a joy to watch and take shots of all summer.
